The Lakeside Advantage

Lakeside is an AISA Blue Ribbon School

The Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) Blue Ribbon School program is sponsored by the AISA to recognize member schools with outstanding educational programs. The Lakeside School has attained a high level of excellence in the areas of student and teacher performance, facilities, student life, athletics, extracurricular programs, and community involvement and has received the award for 18 consecutive years.

Majority of Lakeside Graduates Are Accepted to College

Our goal is to prepare our students for college and life, and we are proud that the majority of our students are admitted to a college or university.

Lakeside Graduates Received $1.5 Million to $4.2 Million in Scholarships since 2014

Lakeside students and parents work closely with our college counselor throughout the college application and acceptance process. Part of this process involves helping students and parents identify and apply for scholarships along with choosing the best option for your student.

Lakeside has an 20:1 Student to Faculty Ratio

We know that the most important factor in determining if students find school meaningful is whether they feel their teachers know them and care about them. Our 20:1 student to faculty ratio allows us to truly connect with our students, and this helps us to promote their academic, athletic, and personal development.

Lakeside Requires Community Service Component for Graduation

Because our goal is to prepare our students for lives of responsibility, service and achievement, we require community service of our students. All Upper School students must complete 80 hours of community service prior to graduation.

Lakeside Athletic Teams Have Won Several State Championships

Over the past 20 years our teams have won a combined 24 state championships. While we are proud of these achievements on the fields and courts, we recognize that the true purpose of high school athletics is the lessons students learn through their participation.

Lakeside Academic Teams Routinely Win Titles and Competitions

Our students have multiple opportunities to participate in extracurricular art and academic activities. We have been very successful in these state competitions in recent years, with our Middle School and Upper School math teams and scholar’s bowl teams finishing in the top three in the state, and multiple students winning blue ribbons at the state art show and state science fair.

Lakeside Promotes Family Atmosphere at all Events and Activities

Our goal is to have a true partnership with our parents where we are all focused on the long-term development of our students. Our parents are actively involved in supporting our programs and this helps create a family culture where parents, students, and faculty know one another well.

Lakeside Offers Students Dual Enrollment Opportunities to Earn College Credit

Our Upper School students have the option of taking courses through the Troy University ACCELERATE Program, Wallace Community College, and The University of Alabama Early College Program. This allows them to take courses online that earn them high school and college credit simultaneously.

Lakeside Provides Each Student with Student Leadership Opportunities

We believe that young people need opportunities to develop leadership potential throughout their lower school, middle school, and upper school years. Through our Student Government Association, our school community service projects, and our athletic teams, our students have opportunities to experience and grow from real leadership roles.
